Newcomers guide to ownership and maintenance
Here is a list of resources for people new to ownership and/or maintenance of Volvo and the 850 / S/V/C70 (the P80 platform). Despite the age of these cars, I still see new owners posting here eager to tear into their projects. This information is also for owners who might have missed some of these ...

Re: Vida CEM swapping
It's because the TCM has 7 different driving style programs.
If you already found the correct PIN for your CEM, you can simply copy/paste it in this field and push the Program CEM button.

Re: Question for the ETM and ME7 experts
So I cleaned the Xemodex LPT ETM I pulled from a 1999 V70 XC a couple of days ago. I am now wondering about this. I had a look on Xemodex's website and it was not of much help other than the label they use is completely different to the one on this unit making me wonder how old it actually is. The o...

Re: Question for the ETM and ME7 experts - RESOLVED
I replaced the ETM with a third unit and the problem seems to be resolved. I’m still getting the older Xemodex unit from scott850, because frankly I don’t trust the OEM ones. To recap for those that don’t want to read through the entire thread; car ran good for a few minutes on startup but shortly a...

Re: Seat Connector removal
Here’s a photo of the connector. There is a tab on the bottom that needs to be pressed ‘up’ to release. NOT intuitive by looking at it.

Re: Parts brands - OE Volvo, trusted aftermarket, and bad
Still have yet to see how it holds up in the long run, but no immediate problems with the Detroit axle rack. The rack that came out was a rebuilt SMI rack, and belched fluid from both ends when I took the boots off.

Re: 98 V70R fuel pump!
There’s a red relay in the fuse box under the hood (the one closer to the dash) that runs the fuel pump. It’s a relatively common failure. Take the relay out of your base car and put it in this one to see if it resolves your issue. Easy and free test. Edit - I see you’ve already done this test. Disr...

Re: 98 V70R fuel pump!
These pumps can die suddenly. But you can usually motivate them to run again by smacking the fuel tank real good from below with a baseball bat or similar while a helper tries to start the car. If this works, it should be the fuel pump's brushes being worn or the comm in need of a new cut on a lathe...

2012 XC90 Leaks From Sunroof Drain Tube
. Extremely dirty 2012 XC90, removed front carpets to pressure wash and found the driver's side is wet but not soaked. 1) Removed the 2 - 8mm bolts in the handle of the A pillar and the pillar cover just snaps off easily with the handle still attached. 2) Found the driver's side tube loose in the el...

Re: 850 Sedan trunk seal NLA, other options?
If you get a chance to take a photo of the offending flattened item at any point, post it so I can try to see if anything I find is not as bad. Neil. Hi Neil, I got a photo of the gasket today. You can clearly see how flat it got, especially around the radii. It's also pretty flat where it goes alo...
