JayDiesel Volvo Stories and Wife's Own Motor Replacements
So I am starting this Topic to keep the long story out of another Topic I started about what everyone's goals for their Volvos for the year is. I will try to post things in order as I remember things but a lot has happened. So I may have to backtrack with updated dates. Ok, so I got asked the questi...

Re: Thoughts on Injector Cleaner?
About 10 years ago I tested out the usefulness, or lack thereof, of injector cleaners. Bought a generic brand cleaner in our French grocery store and tried it out on both our first gen high-mileage S80 and C70. To my surprise, both cars' fuel economy materially improved - and wasn't bad to begin wit...

Re: STOP ENGINE, NO OIL!!!!!! (warning)
Fixed. Cold wet garage floor was fun. There’s about 3” of clearance between the bottom of the pan and the subframe. You can get your hand up there, but hard to rotate it or thread the sensor in blind. It’s somewhere around 23mm, which of course I don’t have. No way a deep socket and ratchet would fi...

Re: Have you replaced TPMS sensors on their P2 Volvo?
I have purchased 4 sets of 4 TPMS sensors on EBay for about $25 each and they work great without any programming: https://www.ebay.com/itm/363365292770 These sensors are on the snow tires and the summer tires for all the 2007 Volvos in my collection. I take the sensors to the tire shop when buying n...

Re: I found this turbo vacuum line disconnected
The port for the hose that popped off doesn't have a barb or other retaining feature. It appears that the only way it is retained is with friction and the partial vacuum from the engine and turbo intake through the venturi (diameter reduction) on the intake pipe. A little spring clamp would probably...

Re: I found this turbo vacuum line disconnected
Light foot definitely, since TCV only triggers in high engine loads, when it needs to get rid of of boost quickly. Vacuum leak was probably minimal, fuel trim idn't migrate to out of range yet.

Re: 1998 xc70 1/98 build Problem filling gas tank (meta discussion on evap config)
Also, great news. I fixed my gas filling problem! Turns out it was indeed related to a previous repair related to that “over fill” line I think I mentioned earlier. From the factory This is a largish diameter steel line coming from the top of the drivers side rear of the tank. It goes from there fol...
