Re: P0117. "Low Engine coolant Temp Sensor Circuit."

5V is the feed voltage, the voltage is supplied by the E ngine C ontrol M odule (ECM). The same voltage source supplies the throttle position sensor. If you want to do this by voltage, you should be looking at the voltage drop across the sensor. Leave the sensor disconnected, see if the symptoms cha...

Yep! A lot of things about Volvo engineering reminds me of the older Chrysler engineering.
The Dodge brothers claim to fame was superior engines.

Re: Non-Volvo car chat megathread

I had a slant 6 in a 79 Plymouth Volaré wagon. Durable engine, like the Volvo whiteblocks. Inline six cylinders have been around since 1903. Keypoints here: Straight-six engine 1. An inline six engine is in practically perfect primary and secondary mechanical balance, without the use of a balance s...

Anybody want a copy of VIDA 2014D Diagnostic and EPC software?

I picked up a copy of VIDA 2014 with one of those bootleg diagnostic tools for volvo and I stuck it on a VM as it doesn't play well with Windows 10. I know there are quite a lot of copies of this already available but I couldn't find any that are just VM with it on so I thought I'd post here to see ...

Re: TCM Control Module Adaptation - NOT Resetting the Adaptation

I show a little how the relearn procedure works at the end of this video. In short, the transmission needs to light the triangle for each up-shifting and downshifting, so in total it has to learn 8 shifting points. Only, it can take many tries to make it learn one or more of these shifting points. R...

Re: TCM Control Module Adaptation - NOT Resetting the Adaptation

I tried replacing solenoids with "pre adjusted" ones and can say this is complete BS. So I found a way to service (or refurbish, or clean, etc. whatever you call that) original solenoids without opening them up. It helped, but I guess re-learn is still required.

Subframe bushing tool

Hi Folks, Due to a minor accident mentioned in another thread, I found myself replacing the subframe in my 1999 s70. I found a lot of examples and suggestions on how to push in the new bushings. Below is the tool I made. I hope this helps someone in the future if he/she decides to tackle this job. I...

Re: Can you test MAF?

The MAF signal output is an analog varying DC voltage that can be measured with a voltmeter. However, I've never seen a chart or graph that coorelates that signal voltage to air flow in g/min that the ECU converts it to. Which puts you back to comparing with a known good sensor. It gets more complic...
