Resurrecting the wife's 99 T5
Back story: - Wife retired her old 240DL wagon, inherited her granddad's 740GL sedan, got hit and totalled. Found a mint 99 S70 T5 in early 2005. 1 owner, impeccable maintenance record, well taken care of, etc. Mis-matched wheels and everything :lol: http://i.imgur.com/a3T7Jl.jpg Did a lot of stage ...

Installed Yitsbox VVIS Modification
I was finaly able to install this modification today. I had already done the throttle body mod for the early 850 N/A which was a noticeable improvement in throttle response. But I must say, the "Yitsbox" tied up the loose ends as far as the seemingly confused powerband I was dealing with. ...

DIY: 1998 Volvo S70 Timing Belt, WP, Cam Seals, SB Overhaul
DIY: 1998 Volvo S70 Timing Belt Overhaul, Water Pump, Cam Seals, Serpentine Belt Overhaul! My 1998 S70 with 150K had the TB and SB replaced at 65K (in 2004). At 150K , these are my observations: - The TB (Timing Belt) with 85K on it is still OK, has hairline cracks, but time to replace. - The TB fa...

Re: Matt's Volvo Blog #3 :: Discussion area ::
Have found this site to be worth it's weight in gold. Volvo corp. should be kissing the founders butt. I have concluded that Volvo is Swed for Hypochondria. My mother and my car suffer from the same thing....I still love them both. Cheers!

Re: will i need any more part for suspension and timing belt
I just did the 140K-150K service and wrote it up below. Believe it or not, the Volvo dealer TB kit is the cheapest PN 30758260: TB, and 2 pulleys ---> $110 . Anyway, the detail is in this thread (where to get parts etc.). Front Cam Seals can be done now or later, up to you. Don't forget the serpenti...

Re: will i need any more part for suspension and timing belt
You must replace timing belt and both pulleys for sure. Period. The hydraulic tensioner is almost 20 years old so I would replace it unless it was replaced at the 70k belt change with an OEM one. In that case let the hydraulic tensioner go until next timing belt change. The two pulleys must be Volvo...

Re: will i need any more part for suspension and timing belt
xHeart is giving great advice IMHO. Here is how I would prioritize and group the work. To spend this kind of money on the car you have to be thinking you will keep it for a while. For a 1994 car with 140k, this is reasonable. (1) Timing belt job (if this stuff craps out, the car is worthless): both ...

Laparoscopic fuel vent hose repair without dropping tank
1994 850 GLT Wagon. I've read excellent posts on diagnosing fuel tank vent line leaks (gas smell if you fill beyond 14 gallons). My case was typical, and having removed the fuel pump and fuel sensor plates in the trunk, with eyeball very close to the deck I confirmed that there was indeed a crack at...

PCV Write-up for 1999+ Volvo 5-cylinder 31325709
Get the PCV done, when you have the catch tank off the front of the engine connect a 5/8" hose to the lower port in the engine block where the PCV tank connects, secure it with a Jubilee clamp and try and blow through it, if you can't blow through it the oil return path is blocked and you need ...

Radiator replacement write-up, illustrated
The radiator on my '97 855 GLT developed a crack in the plastic endcap near the upper radiator inlet. I replaced the radiator with a new one from Volvo (OEM Volvo made by Valeo). Along the way I took photos and wrote the whole procedure up step-by-step. It was a big job and I took lots of photos so ...
