1995 Volvo 850 Auto Engine and transmission Removal
>>> Click here to download the PDF of this tutorial <<< Things Needed • Parts: my dealer charged me $140 for all the below including tax; FCP Groton didn't sell the bolts (you can try calling) but with shipping buying from them would've saved me $35 on the seals alone. They sell OEM seals I believe....

Re: Diary of a 17 y/o with an 850
I don't have a lot to add just stopping by and saw this. I was 15 when I first drove my 1995 Volvo wagon. I am 37 today and still driving it. First car I ever drove. I confess I didn't read a lot just the first and last pages. If there is oil on top of your engine it's becusse it's coming out the fi...

When it's time to move on (and what did you buy?)
Our cars are getting older. I was a regular around here for years. I punched a bunch of tickets, with the evap repair and transmission swap being my biggest achievements. Also did the full timing belt replacement, including getting one of the bad batches of rollers that had the belt riding off the c...

Re: Getting Ready for Suspension refresh - 99 S70 na fwd
You probably don't need springs. They don't wear out unless they break.
I used Sachs all around IIRC from FCP. I did a four corners refresh five years ago, car drove much better. Not quite new but pretty nice.
I would definitely replace the strut mounts as well.

Re: Timing Belt &water Pump Time...
If it's similar to an 850 the worst part of the job is the T45 into the tensioner or roller or whatever it goes into. The wp wasn't that big of a deal, I don't remember being tough, I can't remember if I used some sort of sealant on the bolts though, a permatex of sorts. Maybe. https://www.youtube.c...

Re: 96 850 outer tie-rod brand recommendations
I put on Meyle from FCP and so far they have held up. Installed in 2015 and driven about 30k miles I reckon. For under $20, really a pretty solid deal even if I have to do them again (especially w/ free replacement).

Re: Brake caliper failures and how to prevent them
11 minute video showing the various brake line fittings and how they intersect, as well as cutting in a new line. Fantastic info for those like me who don't know what they are looking at:

Re: Why do undamaged P80s get junked?
People like easy. It's a lot "easier" to buy a new car, never mind the concept of spending xx months working to buy the thing to begin with. Meanwhile, many of us will spend a couple hours a month (if that) working on our cars, maybe $200-$500 a year (if that) using salvage and cheap repla...

Re: Bought a new car
This. This right here, folks. This is why we love Volvos. That is an amazing run. Wheels, any times during that span did you have a 2nd car? So I first drove it when I was 15, it was the first car I drove, and learned on it. I had a different car in college from 2000-2003 when my parents deeded me ...
