I would do a compression test to see if there are any very low cylinders. If very low test, you might not want to bother with a tear down.

Oh...well I hope you don't have a cracked cylinder wall there. Once the head is off do examine the cylinder walls at the top and look for cracks. If it's just a head gasket you would be very lucky.

One bit of advice from experience - DO NOT crank the bolts of the tool down into the camshafts - snug is fine. You only need the big teeth to engage with the slots in the cams. The bolts are only 7mm and made of cheap steel, and I sheared one off INSIDE the camshaft. It became an ordeal to fix.

I mean I thought it was common knowledge that the cylinder walls are thin and coupled with an open-deck design lead to cracked cylinder walls especially if you WOT it each day for a long period of time.
