Re: 99 v70 transmission options
The sport/economy feature is solely in the transmission computer and selected between the two by the switch. Winter is selecting 3rd gear for initial gear for moving off. The 99 and later use the same exact gearbox as the 96-98 with the E/S/W selector but with two sensors changed from analog to digi...

Re: Windshield wiper skipping
Skipping as in lifting off the glass or shuddering in one direction? If the problem is shuddering in one direction: Wiper arms sometimes get twisted and the wiper arm end is not square with windshield surface. This makes the wiper have an angle to glass and the wiper blade can't flip to the side whe...

Re: How do I retrieve the correct mileage on 1996 850
I have a VST and I am pretty sure I have read milage on Diagnose2 850's. I haven't tried on a 96-97 850 in a long time as that doesn't come up as request and I don't know when I will have one to try it on again. addendum: I just went out to my 98 and used the VST. I selected the car as a "800 S...

Re: Throttle position sensor adjustment
On all but a few 90-93 240 manuals, the item on throttle is a two switch unit. A throttle closed switch that clicks and a wide open throttle switch that makes little or no noise when it closes. All 850 fuel systems use a TPS which is a resistor track with a wiper brush. TPS is usually a no adjust af...

Re: Valve clearance adjustment on B5244T2
Hydraulic tappets in many car makers' engines were dropped for solid tappets. Hydraulic tappets were giving misfire codes in engines using them as direct activating bucket tappets as on the Volvos. The exhaust valve can heat and the stem will grow in length before the tappet can lose oil to contract...

Re: Got a question on the parking prawl or w.e its called
The other thing THAT MUST BE DONE is to assure the linkage is properly adjusted. With car on level ground and parking brake securely firmly set do the following: You remove air cleaner box to get ready access and view of the cable and the shifter lever. Remove the cable from lever. Make sure the lev...

Re: Why is Volvo's AWD system so delicate?
The 2002 S60 AWD and all 2003 and later use a hydraulic clutch system made by Haldex/Borg-Warner. There are 4 versions through today. The first two have a mechanical pump that is active only when there is wheel spin with an electric pump that keeps clutch pack free travel eliminated but is a low eno...

Re: v70 is immobalized
There is a chip in the key. A ring around the ignition lock accessible with the steering column covers removed is a magnetic pulser and an antenna. It pulses the chip and the chip sends a signal the antenna picks up. The signals are weak and easily muted by any resistance in the connection to the an...

Re: Defeating the torque limit request on the Volvo 850 Turb
I found it. It is B1 of the TCM. It is described as, " U low on torque limiting request (ist gear, Winter mode, and high oil temperature)" There is no mention of reverse here but in Volvo training info it was described as being for Reverse also. I have not verified the reverse gear torque ...
