The bolt is not tightening into to nut that is welded to the body. it is most likely stripped or fallen off. i would use a flange type bolt M8 x 1.25 x 30, and a self-locking nut for this replacement.

2001 V70XC - Switched to Pennzoil Full Synthetic 5W30

I hope y'all taking time with family and friends this Easter Sunday. I'm on 3rd annual oil and filter change since switching both our cars to full synthetic, that is, oil and filter change once a year. There is also consensus among MVS that a Volvo with 100,000 miles is ready for PCV service, IF neglected, CAM seals too are at risk of failing.
