Re: What do you have for roadtrip support
Thank you. We are back from the 2300 mile road trip to Black Hills, SD. Change of plan included NOT visiting Pine Ridge due to change of weather. And dropping I-80 altogether was best decision. But we did enjoy the drive down from Madison WI through incessant snow, rain and traffic for two hours. Ho...

Re: 2001 V70XC - Chasing fluid at the bottom of the turbo
Second wash was with 1 part simple green & 2 part water. The rectangle pipe connection to oil trap is between "V & U" shape. It was semi clogged -- takes brushing to clear. MVS_V70XC_2792.jpg Cleared the immediate drops. Removed the oil pick up line, now on diaper to protect and pr...

Re: 2001 V70XC - Chasing fluid at the bottom of the turbo
Only remove transmission torque mount to the subframe. Laying on your back with feet out to the front. Pan loosened, final 4 corner screws removed. Grab the pan, first tilt/lower the front and clear the subframe (the two mounting point for engine protective cover). Then lower and clear the flywheel ...

Re: 2001 V70XC - Chasing fluid at the bottom of the turbo
I use Simple Green still, along with products like 409, Greased Lightening, etc. but I started using kerosene where I could soak and scrub the part, like your oil pan. When done, I bottle it up and bring it to be recycled with used oil. Simple Green and 409 are most friendly of cleaning supplies in...

Re: 2001 V70XC - Chasing fluid at the bottom of the turbo
End in sight: very slippery with gasket on. About a mm shift toward the oil cooler after the final 17Nm torque. But a hairline shift at the pan to transmission 14mm bolts.

Re: 2001 V70XC - Chasing fluid at the bottom of the turbo
Two sets. Oil cooler unit is a tango of coolant and oil. There is oil and coolant in respective passages when you first remove it from the oil pan. To minimize, loosen the four T40 screws -- it takes 40T long for a straight fit (same T40 long that's used for thermostat cover screws - both use same 1...

Re: 1997 850: throws DTC P0410 between 87-90 miles of drive
Ours is fitted with SAS for naturally aspirated aka non-turbo. The air pump is situated under the battery tray, but accessible with air guide off.
It is idling closer to 1000RPM -- you can feel her anxiety.
We are in our 5th winter this year.

Re: 1997 850: throws DTC P0410 between 87-90 miles of drive
The SAS was restored with a replacement air pump. Everything else was checked, cleaned, tested and installed. The rubber connectors/elbows are showing age.
The car is back running with more than 100 miles -- no CEL at this time. It could go for a State Air Team test next week.
