Re: Long trip prep? ('04 XC)

So, maybe some looseness and a clunk now and then isn't worth rushing the control arms. It's straight down an interstate, no rough roads, no real twisties. I'll lift it up Sat AM and pry on some things, see what the condition is. Is the regulator not internal on this alternator? Someone mentioned r...

Re: replacing my 05 XC90 with 250K, which to buy? V8 vs. 3.2l

We drive 2013A XC90 with 140,000 miles. It is a 3.2I AWD. Overall very please with all aspects of it. I have been following Volvo's maintenance checklist for 150,000 miles, a.k.a Service Schedule II. See pgill's $10,000 S80 https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87687 ... ...

Re: Bevel Gear Adjuster Nut Leak?

A small leak from the adjuster nut o'ring and axle seal can spark an immediate action from the AWD folks. There are two corrective steps to take before you go on to the remove and seal path. 1) Purchase AG fluid to Volvo spec -- Synthetic 75W90 such as Mobile, Valvoline. 2) Drain and fill AG to corr...

Re: Rear Shocks. Can't access upper mount bolts. Misaligned

There honestly is no way around that. Cutting into your trunk metal will accomplish nothing as you will still need to remove the entire strut to replace the shock. It truly would be impossible to use the cars weight as a spring compressor to get the strut/shock out. Cutting the metal would just add...

Re: DIY: Oil Pan/Sump O-Ring Replacement 2000 XC

Anyone know if the process is the same for a m56 transmission? The mating of the oil pan and transmission makes me worry a bit that I don't have the right seals etc The oil pan and transmission DO NOT exchange fluids therefore no sealant is used or needed between the two. But follow the steps of bo...

Re: '97 855 GLT Can you help me find the for source of oil leak near exhaust manifold on passenger side?

Unless jreed's has less than 150,000 miles, servicing and restoring lubrication system could improve. Our '97 850 is coming for next tb service. It is tempting to restore lubrication system, and discover a little after the oil pan is off.

Re: Rear Suspension Upgrade Order

Hey thanks- So when you axle are we talking about the transverse arms? If so would supporting the car on one side be balanced enough to remove the transverse arm mounts one at a time? This thread may help a little https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=65148 https://www.ma...
