You could use either an open ended wrench or a special line wrench that looks like a closed box wrench with a slit cut into it. I watched a video on this and he used a 3/4 open wrench to bust it open. 3/4 in = 19.05 mm so I'm guessing its a 19mm If you wanted a socket style, you'd have to get a 19mm...

Agree with E Showell - DIM failure is pretty common. Most shops speedometer repair shops can fix your unit. Do some digging and you will find places that repair them locally. I think XeModex up in Canada may do a refurb service, but I don't know relative cost. They usually guarantee their work though. They are also a forum sponsor (props to XeModex).

SRS light is usually an appropriate scanner tool reset - meaning the scanner has to be able to do it. Dealer works, but there are cheaper options. Most shops should have a scanner that will do it, but I would wait until the DIM is resolved. Look in the phone book equivalent for local speedometer rep...

Those tiny tabs always break when you removed them from the metal pin. Try putting a bit of grease on the pin, otherwise this is what I did to make it work forever. plastic zip tie is much easier and quicker, does the same thing. i cut a small groove/channel so it doesnt slip off.
