Re: No Brakes when cold - Vacuum pump/switch replacement w p
Excellent write-up. I just did this on my '07 XC70, and everything (including part numbers) is the same. One thing I did differently -- on step 5, you can see in the picture that the bracket that the air box attaches to has U-shaped slots where the left two clips attach. This means you can save a lo...

Broken Lumbar Support, Driver's Seat
2008 S60 2.5T 168k So, I was leaning back in my beloved S60 seat when the lumbar support (which I always have cranked all the way up) broke. It is the manual lumbar support operated by the wheel on the side of the seat. After doing some digging around, I found that the likely culprit was a snapped c...

Re: Fuel injector, broken "washer" on manifold end?
You will find it quite hard to remove a pintle cap... as mentioned, these break and drop at the bottom of the manifold quite often

Re: DIY: 2005 XC90 Heater Core Replacement
I think I found the reason why I broke the Temp Control linkage! My Temp Control knob was in COLD! When set in COLD, one of the arms in the linkage blocks the HC, so when you pull the HC, you will break one of the linkage arm! So, turn key to position I, fan at some low speed, turn the driver Temp C...

Re: Broken Lumbar Support, Driver's Seat
UPDATE: SUCCESSFUL TOMFOOLERY 1. Snipped off the offending clips 2. Loosened the lumbar assembly with the plastic knob all the way 3. Grabbed some intense little clamps + more steel cable 4. Threaded some new steel cable through the original anchor holes, then 5. Clamped it to the OG cable and 6. Cl...

Re: Should I use a genuine Volvo MAF instead of aftermarket?
Maybe cheaper to produce? Not likely. Probably a carryover from older MAF designs which were solid state analog devices. They updated the MAF itself with a digital SOC which would both tighten tolerances/accuracy between individual samples in addition to probably being more reliable than the earlie...

P2 cloth A-pillar cover retrofit with plastic
Photos below after text. I recently replaced my peeling 06 V70 fabric A-pillar covers with plastic covers from earlier years. Identifying the correct parts was not straightforward to me (relatively new to Volvos), so here is a writeup to help the next person who wants to try it. The P2 V70 and S60 f...

Re: CCM bulbs. Help please. I searched all over.
Yes it is probably the gray base one: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo-instrument-light-bulb-30739358#fitment As stated, first step is to carefully get in there and check it out. You'll know pretty quickly if it is a bulb versus a soldered LED. Here's a decent thread: https://forums.swedespeed...

Re: When is it necessary to "use new screws"?
As above, or in simpler words, any bolt that says "torque to xxx lb.ft then rotate xxx degrees". The rotation brings the bolt into plastic deformation. About 80% bolts on these cars are like this. Metals are elastic materials (at a very small scale). On most metals, the tightening torque c...
