Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Today I have cleaned the engine bay. Nothing fancy, no plastic shine just good ol' soapy water and brush. The passenger side water drain hose was clogged all the way, lol. IMG_20240725_184447__01.jpg Other than that I have soldered in spare Relais' into my troubled IMMO Module per xanthefin's sugges...

Re: Parts brands - OE Volvo, trusted aftermarket, and bad
Rubber is a place where the cost cutting comes back to boil you over. Volvo rubber seems to last 20 years plus and those turbo hoses are getting baked Even Volvo brand hoses must be suspect these days, to the point where quality aftermarket like do88 may be better. I bought Volvo brand coolant hose...

Re: How on earth does one get the driver's side CV axle to pop INTO the manual transmission?
If you replaced the axle with an aftermarket, many of them have a poorly made snap ring that can ruin your whole afternoon. We swap them ( the snap rings) over when we swap axles The trick is… Wheel bearing grease. Glue the snap ring into a nice symmetric position with a dollop of grease, then it wi...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
I replaced all 4 wheel bearings as a precaution. On my 2002 S80 with approx 230K kms a wheel bearing had started to make noise and I figured on the one year older and 30K kms more experienced C70 its factory original bearings would not be far behind. On the S80, 3 of the 4 bearings showed signs of g...

Re: Parts brands - OE Volvo, trusted aftermarket, and bad
I do follow a few youtube car channels, and parts quality is a topic that comes up, seems like there is a general problem with declining quality. From my own experience I have not bought many parts recently, what I did was fine so far. do88.se stuff is good, very happy with the induction hoses. I u...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Some comments on the current topics… AT-205 is a great product with little worry about it messing anything up. I used it in a Ford 302 in my old Mountaineer and it slowed the oil leaks, but did not stop them. This truck had a bad oil pan and RMS leak though, so that’s something to keep in mind in th...

Re: Turbo Wastegate Actuator Arm broken. Serious Issue?
Yeah, the waste gate actuator applies pressure to keep the gate closed, enabling boost. With the rod broken, the waste gate opens at exhaust pressure and boost is minimal
Cool thing on a 1999 is the ECU controls boost closed loop, hard to see how it could get damaged

Re: 850 T5 oil pressure loss: catastrophic oil cooler failure or headgasket?
The engine oil cooler delete plate is available from Mother Volvo, 1366780. https://www.volvopartswebstore.com/products/volvo/Cap-Lubricating-System-Without-TURBO-Engine-131034-Without-TURBO-Engine-131035/1110079/1366780.html Also can obviously be sourced from a salvage yard, time permitting. Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
I decided to go ahead and drop the pan because I already had the o-rings, and curiosity got the best of me. 20240807_133949.jpg I think it might have been done in the past, as the o-rings were green. The o-rings were still pliable, but hardened and flattened. The oil pickup seal crumbled apart when ...
