Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
There should be a gasket from what I can see on a parts drawing. However, it looks like it is NLA: https://www.volvocarstorontoparts.ca/p/Volvo_1998_S70-23l-5-cylinder-Turbo/Gasket/42845467/1275549.html This is the muffler parts drawing for a 98 turbo engine: https://www.volvocarstorontoparts.ca/a/...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
I have had a look at the parts drawings again at higher magnification, and it now looks clear as hausmeister and Bdub have clarified, there is no gasket between the turbo and the downpipe to the cat. It looks more like a cup and seat type seal. If you had issues with worn or pitted surfaces, a littl...

I was supposed to go to a car meeting in Falkirk tonight but just before turning onto the motorway where I stay I noticed the traffic was at a standstill and backed up so a change of plan, I went in the opposite direction and went for a drive where I managed to get a few evening pics as the sun was ...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
The main issue with caps is if the contacts get really worn then the gap increases added to the wear in the rotor arm. Eventually once worn enough the spark has difficulty jumping the gap. I had a 245 owned by 10 previous careless owners and it would not start when it rained or was cold and damp. Co...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
That cap doesn't look to be worn, but rather it has deposits on it. I'd bet the rotor is what was worn. When I re-newed my ignition, my new cap hadn't arrived yet. I cleaned the original cap, but the rotor had metal missing. The car ran fine with a new rotor and cleaned cap. I did eventually get a n...

Re: Concerned about car lift points
someone on here had a factory jack support brake off because it was rusted. didn't look bad at all, but be careful with them.
I usually use the triangular plate that secures the front subframe to lift it, and in the rear that red arrowed spot pictured above.
