Re: Crazy Hood Latch Ideas (or not so crazy) 1998 v70
1. Clean and lubricate your latches so they don’t stick. Take off the latch with the three M6 bolts, leave the cables connected, invert over a wad of paper, and use brake cleaner and a wand to remove gum and dirt. Then white lithium grease to relubricate. Repeat every three years in Canada, 18 month...

Re: P80 headlights Possible to Remove Headlight Reflector, rechroming discussion 8628402 8628403
I just did the refurbishment some weeks ago (ok... a company did it for me). So I just had to remove the headlight and take out the reflectors. It was pretty straight forward. You just have to take out the headlight assemblies, and then taking out the reflectors. You just have to be careful not to b...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Maybe I'm missing something, but my Volvo heater hose clip and seal kit came with:
4 black rubber o-rings, 2 yellow clips, and 2 yellow plastic rings. I believe 2 o-rings, 1 clip and 1 ring go on each hose, but as I'm at the same point as you, and haven't installed them yet, I could be wrong.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
I believe that is the correct orientation, yes.
There is big combo of washers and o rings to install these, along with those yellow clips. I always bypass that junction box anyway, so they never go back in. The box is too fragile to not replace. I've broken most of them that I've messed with.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Since it was so warm today I did a little bit of work. Heater Core is failing, and I checked out the lines which looked fine, but upon touching felt extra crispy. Maybe someone can tell me if these lines are correct as they came out: long one on top, short one bottom, and the plastic ring goes on t...

Turbine electric hybrid 850
Just found this article, apparently in 93, Volvo experimented with a turbine engine in an 850, powering a generator, with electric direct drive to the front wheels.

Re: 98 AWD manual tranny in 96 AT?
Well, I guess it is easier to get a FWD tranny then. I will keep my eyes open for a manual donor car which will gladly donate the clutch pedal assembly as well.

Re: My very broken volvo
@scot850 We have 850 diesels in EU along with s,v70 from '97-'00 P80. It is 2.5 TDI R5...from Audi...but modified a bit by Volvo. Also...EU market have 2.0 T5 & 2.0 T5R for Italian market....something because of high taxes for engines larger than 2.0L. @Vladimir24 Welcome to MVS! Everything is p...
