Yes, that’s a faulty switch. It is not reliably closing the contacts when in the On position

Executive summary

If you have the straight water pipe, heads out to rear of engine, left side of car, you need part number 6842428 or equivalent

If your water pipe connection angles forward to front of car, you need part 9470409 or equivalent

Part number change of lower radiator hose to accommodate angled water pipe, not interchangeable with -1998 pipe
