That sensor won’t alter brake action. As long as your brake lights are working, no safety issues. The cruise will be disabled if the ECU doesn’t like the readings it gets from the position sensor as it uses that sensor to drop cruise control on braking. You also have to be honest with yourself. Are you the kind who will put up your hood every weekend to look for things that aren’t tight or will you drive it like an appliance?
If the latter, replace parts on the PM model rather than waiting for failure.

I believe they are NLA from Volvo but generic ones or junkyard will be fine. They fail less frequently than ECUs
