850 Glove Box Latch Repair

Based on all of the good information on this site I set out to repair my faulty glove box latch on a ’94 850. The hardest part of the job is sawing through the catch hoop or, as Volvo calls it, the brace. I used a largish screwdriver to pry the glove box door lid out “as far as was comfortable” so a...

A couple of things going on here: 1. The evaporator is shot. 2. Your windshield mists up with HEAT and the smell is foul. #2 is not your evaporator, but most likely your heater core with a leak- to get rid of the misting and foul smell- you're going to have to replace it. All-in-all, not very diffic...

Re: Continuously running cooling fan

I replaced the relay, and problem solved. Apparently part number 9442933 and 9442934 will both work. Just some reference for anyone looking here in the future. Thanks to jablackburn for the help. I love this site and I love my volvo!

Transmission being funny on freeway...

Hmmmm. Pull up with your toe on the brake pedal and set the cruise. Does it stay on? I don't know if the 2000 model still has the brake switch with the vacuum line for the cruise control - but someone somewhere said that when you hit the brakes on the newer models, the transmission will unlock the t...

2006 V70 brake Vacuum pump/switch 31317445 31265825

I finally decided to fix an annoying problem that I was having for a while when basically there is no brake assist when engine is cold. I know there were some other posts dealing with this issue but I thought that would be very helpful to write a detailed tutorial with pictures about how to diagnose...

DIY Rear Bumper Bracket Repair: 1997 Volvo 855 GLT

Our 1997 Volvo 855 GLT wagon was recently hit on the rear bumper. I took the rear bumper off and replaced the brackets, bolts and washers and I took some photos along the way to show what I did in case it might be of use to somebody else faced with a similar project. As others have noted, there was ...

Re: Defeating the torque limit request on the Volvo 850 Turb

I found it. It is B1 of the TCM. It is described as, " U low on torque limiting request (ist gear, Winter mode, and high oil temperature)" There is no mention of reverse here but in Volvo training info it was described as being for Reverse also. I have not verified the reverse gear torque ...
