Volvo Symbol...Good to know... :)
And I thought its just a transgender symbol, haha as in Volvo=male "Vulva" and male arrow symbol instead of + sign symbol for female.   But here is the ancient greek god Mars/War/iron connection "Ancient logotype At the same time as VOLVO was reactivated, the ancient c...

Re: 04 V70, N/A, serpentine belt, mystery to me
Special thanks to MDK and Oragex. I knocked off the plastic cover and found the 14mm bolt. I had the job done in 5 minutes with available tools, I may yet go for the HF tool. After 3 generations of engineers, "available tools" included a 1/4" breaker bar (a little sentiment there, I g...

Re: Can you check a timing belt without taking it off?
Timing belts are not good for guessing. EPDM rubber has made cracking less likely to occur so cracking is no guide. Driving easy and slow is not as good as higher revs as low revs and the tight-loose cycling be worse. Higher speed gives the cams more inertia. Heat quickens the death. Oil leaks have ...

Re: Climate Temp Sensor Fan Stays Running?
It runs when you open the door and network wakes up. Open the door and then use something to close the latch and wait 15 minutes and come back and it should be off and when you pull outside handle it comes on. I put LED interior lights in the 2004 I had and the interior lights were on very dimly unt...

Re: 2001 V70XC - Brake line and Cliper Service
Re brake fluid dripping...
In the BMW X5 I mentioned above, I used a piece of wood to press the brake pedal halfway down. This will stop brake fluid from dripping. Good trick!

Re: Noise - CVVT hub or water pump?
Thank you for the quick reply. Agreed, the Gates belts are great but the water pump is terrible. I got lucky it was making the noise and found the small leak. Since it only had 40k miles I didn't think that was the issue. I already purchased a new Aisin and I'll go with Continental for the rest as y...

Re: questions about estimate for broken front coil spring
Quick struts seem like something I can do myself. I only hesitate due to the almost insurmountable problem I had connecting the strut bushing to the control arm during the left rear coil spring replacement linked above. There may be more labor to deal with damage caused by the broken strut. But see...

Re: Xc90 seat compatibility
I am pretty sure that they are not compatible - the mounting points are different. I have an 04 and was in a pull-a-part junkyard looking for a seat bottom that was better than my tattered one. I think that the vehicle I was scavenging on that day was an 08 and the brackets on the bottom of the seat...
