What did you do to your Volvo today?
I've mostly been a lurker on this forum for many years and have never seen a thread of this type so I decided to start one. Hopefully it can perpetuate itself. I always love reading about what every one is up to. Whether its an oil change or an engine swap, post it here. So what is everyone up to? :...

Re: Junk Yard DO NOT LEAVE Parts
This is a very dangerous thread for me! I find it hard to leave ANY parts at PnP/junkyards. My garage is full of parts stashed away 'just-in-case'. Problem is I have ended up with a whole bunch of parts I will probably never use as I have several multiples!! LoL..... However here are a few that I tr...

The EASY way to line up Crank marks for Timing Belt
I just did the timing belt, WP, etc. on my 2005 XC90 2.5T with 110K miles. I just came up with a nice way to line up the crank and want to share with everyone. This easy trick is true for all Volvo 5-cylinder engines, from 850, S70, V70, C70 to S80, S60, XC90 etc. On the issue of Crank Marks, there ...

Re: Horning activates by itself

I forget to mention that doing your repair the 850 steering column has a clam shell design... so if you have tilt steering wheel it's also telescopic... pull lever down and pull steering wheel out. Should be 3 torx type screws/ bolts loosen those up and remove upper and lower clam ...

Re: AC not cooling /
45 might be ok if it is over 80 degrees outside. Please see this link for pressure vs temp:

I wouldn't feel comfortable making my pressure that high though.

Re: AC not cooling /
Have you checked the clutch gap? And yes, that clicking is the compressor clutch engaging.

Re: AC not cooling /
If your A/C blows cold-hot-cold-hot, that makes me think the compressor is not staying engaged. Do you have the A/C set to auto, or manual max cold?

Re: AC not cooling /
I'm not sure what is being used for a pressure gauge but no matter what it is the compressor has to be running, and the radiator fan has to be blowing, for the low side (suction) pressure to be valid. A reading of 45 PSI with the compressor running is a bit higher than what would be normal but I'm n...

Re: AC not cooling /
Actually the low pressure switch - the pressostat) cuts everything off at 28 psi (give or take a pound - manufacturing variance). R-134A has a temp and pressure curve that runs very close to temperature and degrees F being equal within the range that is of concern. Below 32 degrees the evaporator wi...
