Re: Chasing a P0014 (and maybe my tail?) on a 2001 V70XC
Not specific to Volvo but generally how VVT solenoids work. The VVT solenoid uses an electromagnetic coil to move a shaft inside. The shaft opens and closes ports to allow oil to fill or drain from the cam phaser (or vvt hub, the part that changes the timing of the valves without changing physical t...

Re: Considering an trans-plant on a 280K 04 XC70
Could this be a Haldex (AWD) issue and not a trans issue? I am not familiar with failing Haldex symptoms, but I'll bet some folks on here are.

Re: P0327 & P0332 Knock sensor Bank 1&2 Circuit low input
Check to be sure the two knocks sensor connector is plugged in. It leads down and plugs into connector on the plastic harness enclosure that is in turned attached to subframe. The knock sensors are not able to be checked by continuity so the ECM expects to see a minimal voltage spike from both when ...

Re: Anybody running NON-Volvo CV joints on their driveshaft?
The CV joints provided by Colorado Driveshafts are made in Turkey. The rubber boot is thicker than the OEM boots I removed. They cost $75 each. I installed them on my driveshaft last May and have been holding fine for the last 3k miles https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
the key wouldn't turn! This morning I Dremeled open the steel plate underneath the lock cylinder, dropped out the broken pin, 40 minutes later the car was back on the road. Hopefully this fix is enough, I didn't see any other pieces jammed up or floating around in there. Hey Erik, would you mind el...

Re: Volvo Findings! (What have you found on Craigslist?)
It boggles the mind how/why people pay $60k+ for these pickup trucks. I see plenty of Ford Raptors around here. They’ll never see sand. A $5k sand rail will be more fun and have far lower operating costs. It will be more fun because you’re not risking your $70k daily driver on the trails. If you sp...
