Re: Oil pan gasket replacement

Dmarks - Pete's advice is pretty solid. I will expand a bit. At your miles it would not hurt to tackle the oil pan and the corresponding o-rings. FCP kit is solid, but you can skip their sealant. Just source some Permatex Anaerobic Gasket maker and a foam roller/tray from the dollar store - that is ...

Re: Dielectric grease question

In the past I was using a spark plug socket with a rubber insert to hold on to the insulator during removal and install. This type of socket prevents the application of the dielectric grease on the top of the insulator Because I wanted to put dielectric grease on the insulator I bought the following...

Re: Long trip prep? ('04 XC)

Oh I'm not saying sludge isn't a thing but they don't actually die completely from it as easily.

Re: 2007 XC70 does not start in cold temperature (battery is good)

Food for thought: Don't forget fellow MVS helpers of that largely unresolved 'won't start in extreme cold weather' issue that plagues a certain small number of 5 and 6 cyl modular engines. According to a VOLVO TSB somebody traced it (most likely, not definitive IMO) to some sort of electromagnetic i...

Re: Wheel Bearing? Hit curb now there's noise!

Depending how bad it hit, the strut may also bent at the lower portion, so give it a look (I've seen this once). This would affect the wheel geometry and may cause the tire to get noisy Just before removing the bearing (which is not fun), when you had stripped the axle, brakes bracket and rotor, tur...

Re: Has anyone rebuilt an AOC pump with the kit from Russia??

I would only add that before buying any kit you have to check your current pump to make sure the actual windings are not bad. You can replace all the parts included in the kit, but if the windings are bad the pump will not work. A simple VOM check is all that is needed of the windings. Low ohms - no...

Re: 2002 volvo s60 2.4t PCV still blocked after service/replacement

Pete, sorry for the late reply , I didn't realize there were more responses. Yes, I used part # 31325709 as mentioned above. I used a digital manometer in Kpa mode fitted to oil fill. I took the measurements before and immediately after replacing the banjo bolt.

Re: 2002 volvo s60 2.4t PCV still blocked after service/replacement

I used the filler cap. I ported a tube through the filler cap used with the volvo style funnel and cap combo as it conveniently has a hole already in it. I took readings initially from both the filler cap and dip stick tube and they were both the same.
