Re: Lost my only key, what are my options?
Try going to the dealer with VIN and your state proof of ownership. They may be able to provide a new key. It may not be cheap. If your ignition lock was ever replaced, this may not work. Every key will have a code chip matched to the car electronics and swap will not work unless other steps are tak...

Re: 96 850R no fuel/no spark
Remove the fuel line at the engine and see if you can get fuel flow. Check that the pump runs by sound. If no flow and the pump seems to be running, you have crud in fuel lines or filters. Sitting for years will cause fuel line blockage. You may have to clean the fuel tank and all lines. I have done...

Re: 1991 740 turbo: Symptoms of in tank fuel pump failure?
If you have more issues when the tank level is low, that points to problem with the intank pump. For overall pump health, you can check fuel pressure at the fuel rail on the engine. Haynes manual says key on-engine off fuel system pressure should be 32 to 38 PSI FOR 240 VOLVO. 740 TURBO MAY BE DIFFE...

1987 244 Volvo revival
I have owned this white with blue cloth interior 244 since about 1997. It has sat unused for several years after a fuel tank gunk issue. My wife really likes this car and has pressured me to get it running again and rejoin the available fleet. Last fall I got the cleaned up fuel tank installed. The ...

Re: 1990 240 fuel relay no start
There used to be lots of Haynes paper manuals around for these 240 Volvos. Bentley printed a very good manual for 240s from 1983 to 1993. It included detailed electrical schematics. It says ground for fuel pump relay is at left side of transmission tunnel next to gear shift. It is also the ground fo...

Re: 1987 244 Volvo revival
I was able to work on the 240 some today. While installing my make shift fuel pressure gauge, I found I had missed one of the fuel injector ground wires to the fuel rail mount. I also cleaned the oily spark plugs again. After reassembly, fuel pressure reached 34-36 PSI. A few more cranks and IT STAR...

Re: 1999 V70 Oblong holes on wheels
I veto using them if they do not have good, uniform, round holes on the front side that the lug bolt can fit tight. Over size and out of round bolt pattern will not center well on the hub, places bending stress on the bolts, and may work loose. I don't trust them for anything.

Re: 1987 244 Volvo revival
Another nice weather day for Volvo revival. I removed the fuel pressure gauge, and started the car to warm up. Engine started immediately. I replaced the brake light bulb holder and added a new 1057 bulb. No more bulb out warning light. I tried to replace the wiper blades, but found none of my stash...
