Re: 1996 850 Strong Vibration During Braking

Here is an excellent DIY (with many photos) by an MVS member who blogs his repairs. It should cover all your questions.

Re: Why I hate my 2000 V70R!

+1 on the premium fuel. On an NA running around the city I used to use regular gas, but if any highway or long distance driving was required I always use premium. On all 3 of our current Volvos (including the project V70 base) I now only use premium. Unlike many on here I do a very low mileage so th...

Re: 1996 850 Wagon Service Light On

A bad cam position sensor (CPS) will result in no spark, no start. But usually when they go they are done, not usually intermittent. If that's the only code I would source a used CPS (junkyard) and swap it in. Then see if it dies again or not. Otherwise, wait for the problem to be permanent and then...

Re: 1996 850 Wagon Service Light On

I drilled out th...

Re: 1996 850 Wagon Service Light On

Unfortunately there is still no panacea for this problem. There seem to be several variables in play, so that what works for one may not work for others. That thread can get you going on fixing your car: grinding the nubs, bending the arm, and replacing it with new are the most common approaches. Ev...

Re: Replace Voltage Regulator Without Removing Alternator

All I remember is that the hard part was the three screws, the rest was ok. You can't get a bent screwdriver or something under the tabs?

Re: 96 850 Voltage regulator

I've replaced the brushes in those before. Actually just did it when we swapped the motor in the wife's '97 GLT. Swapped alternators a while back, due to a noisy bearing, and installed one of the smaller regulators in it(not having looked at the old one on the car). After the car didn't like that I ...
