Re: 96 N/A - Tracking down a vacuum leak...
Get a piece of hose, put one end in your ear, and poke the other end inthe gaps in the intake manifold to localise your noise. It will be the intake manifold or a vacuum hose running under there. High frequency hisses transmit great through hose so that will work well Careful the vacuum doesn’t pul...

Re: 850 Rear Shocks Question
I don't lift the vehicle. What I do is this: 1: remover lower shock nuts. 2: remover upper shock mounts with shock still inside. 3: pitch or recycle entire assembly. 4: mount your shock to the upper mounts outside of the car. 5: slide rear shock down through access hole. 6: bolt new shocks onto lowe...

Re: Heater Core blew during full throttle. Headgasket leaky?
No reason to suspect the head, bypass the core as noted , watch oil and coolant levels to see if they change. ^^ seconded. It's a pressured coolant system so when the core does fail (and it always does) it's usually spectacular! I used that exact same heater hose jumper method on my car when it ble...

Re: Driving Light Mount Location
So I'll add a little more info to this thread. Looks like the factory driving lights were Hella 500's. Which makes sense as the original head lights are hella as well. My wife thinks that's hilarious by the way. Volvo did make a switch. Looks like I can pull one from a semi truck. "Volvo Truck ...

Re: 850 T5 Dealer Promotional film
I thought you might enjoy this film. I was looking for the Promotional film for the first R that got me so excited in 94. Cars just got better and better every year up through the early 2000s. Now they just get more gimmicky... Even brands i thought would never give in like RR have. Recently I went...

Saying Goodbye to Herman
Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't been posting lately but its been a weird year! Long story short I got a new car, well new to me anyways. It's nowhere near as cool as my old Volvo but it only has 92,000 miles. Its a 2010 Ford Edge Limited. The deal on it was so good that I couldn't refuse it. Her...

Re: Sheared water pump bolt
Volvo 850 1994 n/a. Snapped water pump bolt flush to the head. Drilling bolt left oval hole as drill bit wandered during drilling. I'm left with oval shaped hole where the bolt was. What is the best way to repair? Steel putty or weld I did in fact leave mine out, ran over 100,000 miles with no leak...

Re: Any Interest in a Thorough Volvo Variable Intake System write up?
Do you have any knowledge if removing this system would require a re-tune on the ECU? My car had that originally but sadly the solenoid is missing and I would like to remove it (for some performance gains). My plan is to change the intake manifold with one that doesn't have that system. The formal ...
