Re: engine oil
Hi. My car S70 t5 Aut 2000 model 190450 mil What are your engine oil recommendations? thanks everyone. :D I use part synthetic but the other guys here probably know better. I have read that synthetic might bother the seals on engines that were made for regular oil but it could be a myth. If in doub...

Re: engine oil
10w60 is used in BMW 7 with the big engine. My 04 S80 T6 runs best on 5W30. It looses mileage and pep with 10w30. I think thicker oil doesn't spray as freely through the cylinder oil jets. Just my theory. Also thinner oil flows faster removing heat from critical areas like bearings and the turbos. ...

Re: How much to tighten worm gears? (Hose clamps, jubilee clamps, band clamps)
What is the spec on the worm gear clamps ? I found a torque wrench on Amazon for $51 USD, 1/4 inch drive, 10 to 150 inch pounds. Funny the bigger ones seem to be cheaper as low as about $35 USD. That link that volvolugnut posted had some specs (ranges) but the smaller clamps were 10-15inlbs which m...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Took my new Dog Diablo for a ride, he made me do it …. Hi, 666 is the number of the 'beast'. 666666 is the number of miles to hell, now we know :-) Two guys were sent to hell for being 'bad'. When they got there, they saw a bunch of people standing knee deep in dung and drinking coffee. The host ha...

Re: P80 V70 00 NA battery cable question?
You could measure the voltage drop in the wires with a decent digital meter and use Kirchhoff's Voltage Law which states the the algebraic sum of voltage drops around a closed path equals zero. What this really means in terms of the wire itself is that if the alternator is putting out say 14v and th...

Re: Help making a Volvo radio test system
I have a question on using this type of power supply. I can set the Voltage level with no load on the unit, but nothing happens when you try to set the current load. Is this because to set current you physically ned to have it connected to something which takes a load and then adjust up to the load...

Re: Help making a Volvo radio test system
My head is spinning now, and my one remaining brain cell is doing somersaults trying to read and understand that information! I believe I do understand most of what you are trying to educate me on, but it will take time to absorb into the dense matter of my brain! It will be a lot clearer whe...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Junkyard trips often run away with what you actually need when you see interesting and shiny parts!  I went there for the IP dimmer switch...(And maybe the interior bits for my wife's wagon). The past few 850's have just been "drivers" and not an "enthusiast's" car, s...

Re: Fuel Pump Relay Examinations 1998 v70 non turbo
Try here Al: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9681 Neil. Wow that's a big thanks, that is a great explanation and also confirms my suspicion that either of the electrolytic caps are bad. I cant thank you enough. I also forgot to mention that whatever Volvo engineer designed ...
