Re: MIJ's Intermittent Reverse Lights tutorial?
The old PNP switches are well investigated: there is only one issue. The three copper contacts inside get worn down. If you're up to the effort for rebuilding which amounts to opening, cleaning, flattening and replacing the copper contacts and re-greasing, then I would have very high confidence in a...

Re: 850 Reverse light manual override option?
Anyone have a general idea of where the reverse light power wires branch off of the main wiring harness near the center console/firewall area? I'm trying to figure out if they run under the center console or if they run down alongside one of the front door sill plates. Amost certainly along driver ...

Re: SC815 sounding better than SC816!?
It is probably just a better unit! It is like everyone says the SC-901 is a better unit than the SC-900. To me the older SC-900 has a much better sound than the SC-901. I had an SC-815 in one of my 850's and it was a great sounding unit. The sound was more 'full'.

Re: Power steering rack brand opinions and experiences
I bought a rebuilt rack for my 850 back in 2012 from Rack Doctor. It's worked flawlessly ever since.

Re: 96 850 leaking ATF, not 100% sure of the source yet..
Check the axle seals for good measure. if they leak onto the shaft, the spinning can kick it up into weird places.

Re: 96 850 leaking ATF, not 100% sure of the source yet..
I suggest that you clean as much off as you can of the leaked oil. Then start and idle the car and see if the oil starts to leak again. Don't drive the car as it will help by not throwing oil around. It may help you to figure out easier where it is coming from.
Good Luck!

You could also clean it up and add uv dye to just the power steering reservoir , then see if it glows! https://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-10-5045-Multi-Purpose-Fluorescent-Detection/dp/B008I2VPC4/ref=sr_1_2?crid=3DLR5GL2MROIE&keywords=Uv+tracing+dye+oil&qid=1651218474&sprefix=uv+tracing+dye+...

Re: Power steering rack brand opinions and experiences
You can use either one. They both mount the same. The thing that has to be matched are the rack and the inner tie rods, usually you buy the rack with these already ,arched and installed If you buy the Detroit axle one, they give you a return shipping box and label all good to go. If you can get it t...

Look at bottom of the steering valve, the vertical round piece the steering shaft sticks into.
TRW has a round cap
SMI Has a hexagon cap
Definitely try the stop leak product.
I use Valvoline maxlife synthetic ATF in all my P80 power steering systems to keep my fluid inventory simple
