Re: What engine will fit in my 96 850 turbo
There is the turbo coolant hose hidden under the turbo heat shield. Hard to see, really bad if it blows. The temp gauge is useless as soon as the water is gone. I think you have around 10 to 20 seconds after the no coolant light comes on before the engine is toast. Basically every B5234 will work. B...

Transponder key and immobilizer theory
Because Misha pointed out the the EU 850ies got transponder keys in 96 this leaves me to deal with a subject i never wanted to wlaste my time with: I have a 2 tone gray and black key where the transponder is probably hidden inside and a remote control which did lock and sometimes unlock the doors. W...

Re: Transponder key and immobilizer theory
Thanks. So if the ECM looks for no signal the transponder ring signal is set but noone cares? What about relay 210/211. Is it only necessary for the remote? There should not be any connection between keyless entry (and the immobilizer function in relay 210/211) and the transponder immobilizer i gues...

Re: ABS fault 312, 322. 850 T5M 1994 MY
You´ve basically checked all the basics. Do you have a chance to get an ATE ABS unit to swap in? I know they are not supposed to fail, but then they are over 20 years old by now. My 95 had a similar issue that I never figured out. One thing: Have you checked the wiring loom that goes into the ABS un...

Re: ABS fault 312, 322. 850 T5M 1994 MY
Don´t you have junkyards down under? Those modules are quite pricey, it´d be a shame to spend money on an unlikely part. Still very strange that it happened while being parked which would make me believe it was a rhodant (or another freak-creature), but then you should be able to find a broken wire...

Re: ABS fault 312, 322. 850 T5M 1994 MY
Rob, I think you can try to use a non tracs module for testing purpose. I´m not sure about that, especially since I never had a pre 96 module off the car. but I think you could get it on there. Tracs will not work, of course, but the ABS unit should.

Re: Diary of a 17 y/o with an 850
That might be just some cleaner residue waiting to burn off. Did you rinse the COLD motor thoroughly with clean water? Rinse agsin and dtive a bit, the smoke should clear off.

Re: Diary of a 17 y/o with an 850
Make sure to check if the rear brake calipers aren´t seized. They have a tendency to do that with age. Not really a bad job and totally worth it.
