Re: 98 S70 camshafts question
Interesting this thread has occurred without me noticing it. Usually what happens with NA cams is that they have overlap to take advantage of exhaust scavenging. With VVT the overlap is increased on a NA motor to move the powerband down, but this increases overlap. Turbo motors do not have overlap o...

Re: wheel bolt size
I am about to throw 10mm spacers on the rear axle of my R to get rid of the tucked in look. Now I guess that I probably get longer wheel bolts. We have 12x1.75 wheel bolts, right? But whst's their length? Where could I get new bolts the right size? I'm obviously confused ... . M12 X 1.75 is the cor...

Re: gas odor with full tank
For a while, I've had a fuel odor from the gas tank area with a full or half full tank. as soon as the level drips, the smell stops. I popped the fuel pump cover and nothing seems suspicious there. What's next? remove the right rear wheel liner/inner fender and look for a rotten hose? . First thing...

Re: gas odor with full tank
What Mo Volvos suggests is great advice. Sometimes the simple stuff is all that is needed. Even swapping the fuel filler cap. I had to gently re-profile a filler neck on a friends car as they had somehow managed to dent the top edge. Seeing a leak on top of the tank is also hard to see sometimes, in...

Re: gas odor with full tank
Get your head under the car and look around for stains on the side(s) of the fuel tank. That has shown me two different kinds of P80 leaks - when a hose on top of the tank was leaking and when the fuel pump seal was leaking. Especially take a look when the tank is full and it is smelly, may even see...

Re: AC - hissing sound inside the car
Your evaporator has failed. If you have a small mirror, pull the lower dash on the passenger side and remove the 'resistor pack', and look in to the left. Look for dampness at the bottom of it. If it is the original you will likely find it has holed with condensation over the years. If you don't hav...

Re: AC - hissing sound inside the car
I don't know...i own my 850 for 24 years and it's ac system(ECC)always does that after turning the engine off...for a few seconds.
Last year i replaced drier, evaporator and heater core while i was in that area...and it acts the same.
For me...it's normal behavior.

Re: AC - hissing sound inside the car
no, I just had it refilled today by my indie. . Plus 1 on low refrigerant. Pretty rusty on HVAC theory but could be part liquid and gas rather than just liquid going through the expansion valve / metering device. Best to check pressure with gauges when adding refrigerant. . . Refill means there was...
