Re: 1998 V-70 T-5 Cranks but no-start after running OK
If you don’t have codes then the gas tank is sealed up, So water in the gas is ruled out. A pressure measurement on the rail will tell you if the relay or pump is failing, that’s a typical cold weather crank, no-start diagnosis. You can also confirm with a shot if ether, or starting fluid into the s...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
You don't need to drop the tank, the connector is accessible under the cargo floor, right near the fuel pump access panel. It might take some creative fishing to get the new one in place, but it's not too hard.

Re: 1998 V-70 T-5 Cranks but no-start after running OK
It doesn’t sound like a Sensor but Diagnosing by symptom is unreliable.
Can you describe what “ low compression starting ‘ sounds like? Does the cranking change or is it just not firing?
Fuel pump relays on high mileage cars get iffy and temperamental; that’s an easy swap with a junkyard one

Re: 1998 V-70 T-5 Cranks but no-start after running OK
That sounds a bit like lawn mower syndrome. Excess gas washes down the oil in the cylinders and causes low compression. It’s usually caused by a marginal Engine coolant temperature sensor Which then commands too much gas injected ona warm start. Diagnosis. Get out the ohmmeter and compare the ECT re...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Blue Steel ('98 V70 base AT) recently had its coolant light come on after a two-hour drive with two of my kids in the car, but I found a Napa and topped it off. The right side of the radiator appears to have a leak about one-quarter of the way down. I see replacements with oil cooler ports, but is ...
