Re: 2004 XC70 problems with instrument cluster and headlights after air bag recall
I think this is classic instrument cluster soldering issues. My 2004 V70 with 142K miles just had this issue (no odometer, no speedometer, messages unreadable). Bought a used cluster on ebay for $69. Works perfect now. Search but there are 2 issues: - Green connector vs White connector for different...

Re: 2004 XC70 problems with instrument cluster and headlights after air bag recall
I had instrument cluster issues, and although the instrument cluster was erratic, the headlights worked as normal. The other issues do seem like they could be caused by a faulty instrument cluster though.

i wouldn't rule anything out, go back over all the plugs the dealer disturbed whilst doing the work. Looks like airbag replacement is incredibly simple. The only plug involved being the direct connection through the steering wheel to the rear of the airbag itself: https://www.pelicanparts.com/techa...

Re: Rear struts and spring replacement with photos
Maybe the strap you're using is too lightweight? It was even easier for me the second time, when I used a wider strap and moved the hooks farther out.

Re: wrap flex tube for temp repair
For that price you can get a used but working flex tube. If you know someone with a welder, cutting the old one out and welding the new one in is like 30 minutes of work. I dont know much about inspection in the US, but here in germany this would never pass. These heat wraps arent air tight, so it w...

Re: wrap flex tube for temp repair
I used muffler cement, apply the night before inspection, it lasts a couple of days or more. Spray the leak area with brake kleen first, Use duct tape on the tail pipe to attach a vacuum cleaner hose to create vacuum in the exh system, that will suck the cement into the hole. I have a new $44 flex p...

Re: wrap flex tube for temp repair
I suspect removing the header/flex/cat will be the biggest challenge to replacing the flex tube on the bench. Tips for removing the two 02 sensors? I've had the same experience at the aft cat flange and used the exact same split clamp. Still a small leak after resurfacing and a new gasket. I probab...

Re: wrap flex tube for temp repair
mine just got worse this morning and the real muffler is dragging on the ground, check your rear muffler hanger,
i think that can damage the flex pipe.
Gonna have to fix mine sooner than i wanted, just turned the heater on in the garage.
drat.

Re: id bolts, nuts, screws in general and for 2004 XC70 headlight level sensor assembly
Did any of the 2 brackets have fitted studs? If so then if they have broken off, then just find 2 bolts that a re snug fits in the holes and matching lock nuts. Easiest to stick with metric, but hey if you have SAE bolts that will do that go for it. If they need bolts that have to thread into a fitt...
