Re: s60 power drop
Note: MAF codes can be set when there is a leak in the intake system. Rule that out first if you already havent... When the throttle body is having trouble it will often trip the code for the MAF because the air being registered through the meter isn't what the ECU is expecting. But the problem is t...

Re: v70 electrical problems
I believe the autolocks don't engage when it thinks a door, hatch, or the trunk (on a sedan) is open, so that's probably not technically a 'fault'. The wire(s) running to the hatch may not appear obviously damaged or frayed to the eye. The copper conductor can break without damaging the insulation. ...

Re: Getting a used ignition coil from the junkyard?
The cylindrical part and the boot around it that extend down to the spark plug are different lengths. I believe the connector is has a different 'key' (prevents the connector from seating into the wrong style coil pack). Beyond that I don't know if there are other technical differences such as spark...

Re: Wrong Size Rotors - 2004 S80 T6
286 and 305mm use the same exact pads and calipers. If you have 305mm it might look like the pads are a little undersized. The larger rotor provides more thermal mass: in a given braking situation the rotor will take a little longer to heat up, thus a little longer before brake fade sets in. Also, w...

Re: I'm going Volvoing, first stop Arkansas
If you come in from the south into Colorado, here's a short list of things to do which I highly recommend if you haven't done any of these before. There are a couple good ones in and around Colorado Springs (1,2) a lot of people miss as they're fast-tracking it to RMNP. 1. Pikes Peak. COG railway up...

Re: I'm going Volvoing, first stop Arkansas
Judging by the feel of the car, a road trip is good for the engine. My S80 is normally Lincoln Town car smooth but since I did the initial 17 hour straight drive I feel a noticeable difference in the car that I can only describe as dead smooth. Maybe we should all be vacationing in our Volvos more ...

Re: What does Break Assist Service Required mean?
Your car has DTSC? Oh wait. Of course it does. I mentioned this system in another topic recently. I'm pretty sure that message refers to the system that senses a quick press of the brake pedal and applies more brake pressure faster than your foot on the pedal alone would. It's meant to assist in the...

Re: What does Break Assist Service Required mean?
I did a little googling on this just to make sure I'm in the right track. Yes, this is most certainly the brake pedal position sensor. Sensor takes 10 minutes to change. The retaining ring/circlip can be a little fussy to release as it is oriented in a way that makes it a little difficult to reach/g...

Re: I'm going Volvoing, first stop Arkansas
Someday likely. May or may not be another Dachshund. I like the highly intelligent breeds + companion/pair bonding types. Of the toy breeds the mini longhair Dachshunds are a good match for me. They also tend to be more laid back and snuggly than the short or wire hairs. But for my next bestie I'm t...
