I did 5000 mile OCI Castrol Dino oil on my T5 for most of its life , at 160k the PCV was clean and unclogged.
I switched to synthetic And run 7500 miles now

Re: Motul oil doesn't burn
I'm guessing the boost levels have a big impact on sludge buildup. I drove my car for a year with the turbo hoses wrong and didn't notice. My friend in Florida, diplomatically, may boost more.
I just hit 5000 on my Mobil 1 high mileage and might run Blackstone on it to see how it looks vs 7500.

Re: Motul oil doesn't burn
My 02 motor has the grates, my 99 motor does not. Get out there on a track! SCCA has a traveling event called Track Night in America, which is a relatively cheap and easy way to get some track time. Local Porsche Club of America chapters have Driver's Ed events which are a better way to get good - b...

Re: Motul oil doesn't burn
Didn't even know those grates existed. Do they just reduced splashing? I assume it is to prevent debris from falling in the engine? I would rather it was not there so I could see inside the engine better. Hopefully one of you Volvo technicians out there can shed a light on this? June My initial tho...

Re: Dealer oil change vs chain oil change
Jiffy lube is more of a scam and can mess a car real quick and forget about backing their job. They also use cheap oil and filters. Plus Volvo has a specific tool to remove the oil filter. But what's not told - perhaps it says it in the video linked - is that those shops are only about pushing other...

Re: Who likes the 960
I loved my 960 and S90! The white 6 cylinder engine is by far superior in my opinion to anything Volvo has made since. The final step in the evolution is the S80 T6 that I won't part with. Had Volvo kept the S90 version and added the T6 twin charged as a option I feel they would have had the perfec...

Re: Volvo XC90 - Why you love yours!
The 2004 T6 transmission requires Dextron III fluid. There is genuine Volvo Dextron fluid. I would not put non Dextron in your T6. It has a 4T65 GM transmission. June June I appreciate your feedback always. Yes you are correct that DeX 3 is what's called for but T-IV exceeds dex3 and is compatible....
