Re: AC not cooling /
If your A/C blows cold-hot-cold-hot, that makes me think the compressor is not staying engaged. Do you have the A/C set to auto, or manual max cold?

Re: Secondary air trouble shooting
IMHO, the SAS is more trouble than it is worth. Its contribution to the environment is just as questionable. Look up SAS delete. As long as you leave everything installed, I'm sure the emissions tech won't notice. All they do is check for codes, maybe give a quick visual check. Diesel Gate taught us...

Re: Secondary air trouble shooting
Ok then, I just ordered diodes on Amazon. This car has many systems not checking in on the readiness inspection prior to the smog inspection. The emissions self-checks are finicky. There is a topic here somewhere detailing what is required to get all the monitors to read ready. Do you think the sas...

Re: The official "Ive driven to Moon" Thread for P80..and P2..and anyone else.
1998 S70 T5M. 263k miles. I guess I'm going to da moon and back. Driver's seat in ruins. Original windshield. New delta links and shocks at 240k. Cooling system refreshed including heater core at 250k. New calipers on front. Brake line refresh. Many parts still from factory. The view on the way back...

Re: Oil Changed - Serious questions
You can get Mobil1 full synthetic at walmart for $4 a quart, so I really don't see the need to cheap out on oil. I buy Mann filters, but K&N also makes really good wrench-off oil filters, IMHO.

Re: Engine "Coughing" During Accleration?
Very typical of worn ignition parts. How old ( miles/time) are your Coil Spark plug wires Distributor cap Rotor Spark plugs ( Brandt new) Thanks for replying. I took it out for a drive and noticed the coughing is gone. I’ll need to drive it a few times to be sure. What’s a coil? As for the other pa...

Re: Anyone ever rebuild a brake caliper?
Junkyard. NJ has a few. Other than that, prevention is best. Replace the fluid ever few years. It’s not helping with this crappy aftermarket stuff. I had Fresh brake fluid on replacement in 2016 and both pistons seized solid. Yes, these rebuilds all seem to be crap. I perpetually have new brake flu...

Re: 98 V70 manual trans clutch swap advice
Thanks for the advice guys. Much appreciated. Throw out bearing makes sense and although I have not owned a manual trans car for close to 20 years, the throw out bearing makes sense as a 'while you are in there' part. I have read the slave cylinder can be an issue. What tends to go wrong with them....

Re: Engine "Coughing" During Accleration?
Allegedly platinum is best and lasts longer. Copper plugs don't last as long, but are usually cheap and perform well. I'm running bosch platinums because they were what was available locally. They perform as expected, but wouldn't say they perform better. Will see how long they last. Champion, NGK, ...

Re: Cruise Control Intermittently working-- stumped
The vacuum lines are a pretty good bet and cheap to replace. The switches for the clutch and brake are also an easy place to start. I don't know if there is any record of the CC pump or relay ever going bad, but those should be easy to test. Also should check the fuse for CC. Some users have reporte...
