P80 Windshield and Headlight washer pipework

This may not be a totally correct guide to these system as I am finding difficulty finding information on 850 models and it has been a long time since I worked on these systems on those. It will be close but feel free to correct if you have an 850 or even a V/C/S 70 P80 and correct. This was prompte...

Rehabilitating the T5M

I just purchased a 1998 V70 T5 manual (T5M) in Nautic Blue with 178k miles. This thread will document my work to rehabilitate it and its journey to (likely) becoming my daily driver. I drove a 2000 V70 NA manual for 18 years until it got rear ended and totaled (and stripped by abscate ). For the pas...

Check the water pump brand. If is is not Aisin (OEM) or Volvo you may want to consider changing it.

Re: Restoration: I Bought the Cheapest Running 98 V70 T5M (2023)

Yep, a lot of these water pumps are like that. No idea why, but it's normal. The car doesn't look too bad! Definitely needs some interior parts, but nothing crazy. That stuff shouldn't be TOO hard to source, but it won't be too easy to remove all the plastic without it shattering into a million piec...

Re: Restoration: I Bought the Cheapest Running 98 V70 T5M (2023)

Wait, is that water pump missing teeth? That could be an original pump, getting a look at the front for evidence of ID isn't a bad idea. At over 300k, one would hope it isn't the one it was born with. The tensioner looks a bit crusty though. I was able to get the ball cup over a year ago, ordered t...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

After cleaning up the back yard I pushed the 850 out of the garage, it's the first time since last October that it has moved. I never started the engine and won't be until the end of March when I take it for an MOT. Can't believe that it's over 26 years old not and still looks as good as the day it ...

Most likely cruise control, the motor sits under the battery tray.

Re: Restoration: I Bought the Cheapest Running 98 V70 T5M (2023)

UPDATE: Grabbed a junkyard alternator to replace the one with no output. The brushes on the old alternator were almost nonexistent. I tried to get away with replacing just the voltage regulator, but that went anything but well. So I pulled the PS pump and just replaced the whole alternator with one...

Re: Rehabilitating the T5M

Today, I met up with the previous owner of the T5M. He's a great guy with a reasonable enthusiasm for driving and vehicle maintenance. It was fun to hear stories of how he enjoyed driving the car for 20 years. He sent me home with a wagon full of extra parts: Four aftermarket 17" wheels with Mi...
