Thanks guys. I finally had time to attempt the repair and it was successful. Access was very limited for my thick arm, but I managed to replace the hose without removing the intake manifold. I only removed intake duct and radiator fan though I think the latter was unnecessary. Edit: glove test passe...

Good news was I got an update that the young lady with the 03 XC70 made is safely with no issues to her new town over 100km from Calgary. That is a relief as I was concerned there was a chance the drain plug might blow out again if it was actually faulty and I'd missed any signs for this! Phew!

From full open, start closing it and pull the fuse to stop it.
Reinsert fuse and close window normally, it should stay closed.

Vida says 55 psi on first prime, pressure regulator might be wonky.
My car doesn't have one so I've never tested it.
