Do it yourself ABS module repair.
The latest addition, a 1996 850 sedan, came home with the Tracs light on and the ABS light is burned out. It makes me think it had been that way for a while. For grins I decided to try a do it yourself fix and it apparently worked. The obvious first step is to find an E-5 Torx socket. If you have an...

Re: Brake Booster Vac Line Replacement
It's that or valve is on it's way out.

Re: Brake Booster Vac Line Replacement
+1 with misha on this. If the issue is mostly when cold, it is most likely the plastic one way valve on the front of the booster where the vacuum pipe from the intake goes to the booster. The first sign this is failing is when you get a hard pedal in the morning or when sitting for some time. Pull o...

Re: hardly running 850 glt
Aftermarket MAF is always a bad idea on these cars. Bosch is only way to go. Timing can be off UP to 3 teeth....third tooth is game over. The car will run with 2 up to 3 teeth off but it will run like crap....it would tend to stall and would have low power unless you floor it. Fuel consumption would...

Re: hardly running 850 glt
It sounds like you are unsure of the timing but it is certainly easy enough to check by lining up the marks to see where you are. Line up the crankshaft mark and then check the position of the camshaft marks. If they are off then you need to go through compressing the tensioner again and reinstallin...

Re: hardly running 850 glt
Put a strong light in there and you will see it.
No special tools for timing belt job on these cars are needed.
Cam locking tool isn't needed at all.

Re: hardly running 850 glt
The marks are a bit tough to see. On your '95 it likely looks like this: DSC02612.JPG If you zoom in on the picture you can see the tiny notch at the rear of the sprocket. But it may look like this: GEDC1002.JPG On that style there are two tiny notches and the timing mark on the oil pump gets center...

Re: hardly running 850 glt
read my first post, it came loose and the cams moved I know, what I meant was that the sprockets were not moved independently of the camshafts. From what I understand, the tool came loose and one of the cams shifted. Like I said, as long as you did not remove either of the cam sprockets, you can us...

Re: hardly running 850 glt
There is no rush in this job...just take one step at a time, think and everything must end up well. Don't remove spark plugs, this will prevent things from moving while you install the belt. After you're done....turn the engine a few revolutions by hand...re-check the ALL marks and if everything is ok...
