Re: I guess I’m going to call him “Leo”

I put in the transmission and driveshaft last night and finished everything up this morning. I took it out for a test drive and man the difference is like night and day. No more hopping and banging trying to take off in 1st. 😂 It’s smooth as butter. New rear main seal, clutch, trans refresh, drivesh...

Re: Is a 2011 C70 a P2?

The earlier C70 were 850 (P80) based. The later are P1.

There was the upgrade to RN motors around 2000 - the RN blocks are largely the same (minus the R motors). Cooling should be the same. The heads and manifolds are different between the P1 and P2 though.

BlackBart wrote: 21 Aug 2023, 11:00 Ohh, P1, huh. Not an 850 chassis. Is it the same as the V50 wagons then?

Aren't the block and cooling system going to be the same as a modern white block?
Later C70s are same chassis/drivetrain as C30/S40/V50. Wish those later C70s were P2 chassis.

Re: 2011 C70 dumping coolant

I bought a 2008 C70 in January and in first 6 months of ownership replaced all the cooling hoses, thermostat + housing and the overflow tank. Being more than 10 years old it is good preventative maintenance. The reason is if you lose coolant while driving the position of the temp sensor can allow it...

Re: What non automotive projects and repairs are you doing?

Plywood all the way ! Take a piece of 1/2" OSB, and hit it as hard as you can with a hammer. You will ( should ) be able to bust a near perfect hole right through the panel. Now try that with 1/2" plywood. Not happening. Plywood is more expensive, as it has to be made from continuous venee...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Abscate, when installing the cams and cam cover, do you try and seat the cam seals during assembly or leave them loose and tap them in after the cover is bolted down? I cheat a bit here, and install the seals on the VVT from the rear end of the cam, carefully seat it into the lower cam cover half a...
