Re: Volvo wants out of Polestar
There are many issues affecting the practicality of EV vehicles. A standard charging method would be hugely helpful for starters. The lack of infrastructure is another issue as mentioned. Think how many years it took to get all those gas stations out there? 125+ years or so? We are trying to fix tha...

Re: Volvo wants out of Polestar
I'm in for early adopter take on this. EV's are in Beta VHS phase as to battery tech. When (I think it is no longer in "if" territory) solid state battery tech with life issue becoming a non-issue and charge times of under 10 minutes then EV's become as normal as ICE vehicles. Fuel station...

Re: 1987 Volvo 240 Wagon
More ideas: Pull all the spark plugs and see if any are black. Black means not firing or getting too much fuel. Check the plug gaps - need about 0.030 inches. All plugs should look the same or there is some problem. Check the plug wires. Are they frayed, oil socked, or stiff, or cracking? Then repla...

Re: What did you do on your car today?
Yesterday I wrote about my VW? I think this counts :-) https://www.alltrackworld.com/denver-to-durango-road-trip-report/ Before the trip I checked spare inflation, tires inflation, and fluids. Changed the oil with factory Castrol synth several weeks before, bringing my son in (14) for the first time...

Re: '88 240 down on power and getting really poor gas milage.
Update. Fixing this hole in the accordion tube has made a HUGE improvement. Pep is back, like I gained 50 hp. My guess is tape just gave up the struggle recently, and it was so hard for me to see the patch, as the tape was black, and that wasn't something I was looking at anyway. I was checking vacu...

Re: BaT Megathread
Interesting, a catamaran in 1925? And why "surface-piercing" props? Is that more efficient? Although I think hydroplane props are like that, just the bottom part in the water. Gar Wood - who made his fortune in the trash hauling business - had Christopher Columbus Smith build the first mo...

Re: What is up with this dipstick?
Wrong dipstick? Did you just pick that up from the junkyard? There are 2 different dipsticks. The top of the tube has different diameters. If yo pulled that stick and not the tube as well it won't fit. Compare to the old one you had, did the old one have only 1 o-ring? You also have to make sure the...

Re: BaT Megathread
One of the rarest of the US orphan models, this '56 Mark II is one of fewer than 3,000 built. 1956_continental-mark-ii.jpg https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1956-lincoln-continental-mark-ii-2/ Continental was a stand-alone marque, just like Edsel, and seemed to stem from the same fever dream of a co...
