Re: Engine System Service Urgent, from bad to worse
Tried the relay today although I didn't have the FMI1 relay, so I replaced the one that was where FMI1 would've been, and the bottom side of the fuse cover said AC, and it made no difference. Maybe that's not the relay you meant, though, Superherman. I'd really like to un-seat the ECU and take a lo...

Re: Spark plug issue
Are you sure you have the correct spark plugs? Could these be too long and the piston is actually hitting the spark plug?
I only use Volvo OEM spark plugs and have never had an issue with spark gap or electrode damage.

Re: Spark plug issue
There are indeed sparks plugs with longer 'threaded' section for the 3.2 engine, however the ones in the picture appear to be the shorter ones. OP mentions the spark plug replaced lately looked like it had impact on the electrode. Could you upload a close up with this ? It's is hard to think there w...

Re: Radiator recommendations?
I was in the middle of changing the radiator in my 02 XC and got stuck, couldn't get it out of the top OR bottom. I have a donor car that I was going to use the radiator from so I tried to get it out of that one and got stuck at the same place, on the drivers side, either the hitting the condensor ...

Re: How to tell if head gasket is blown
The head gasket separates three chambers and the high pressure substances that go with them: lubrication (oil), cooling (coolant) and combustion (combustion gases from burnt fuel). A blown head gasket will result in mixing of two or more substances in on or more chambers. The leaks can be one-way or...

Re: Possible timing problem
It sounds like it’s right but you should wind the VVT hub(s) back with the ccw rotation to set it up right
If it doesn’t code in a few days of running, it’s right. It has to be within one tooth of the correct position of both the pulley and the cam or it will code

Re: 06 XC90 2.5 engine swap...Can I use an XC70 2.4?
The Engine from the XC70 is a RN block. The engine from the XC90 is a RN C block. You can swap a RNC in place of RN because a RNC engine has the bolt holes for both RN and RNC front engine mounts. The RN engine does not have the bolt holes for the RNC engine mount, which is mounted higher up. Start ...
