Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today....now sticky!!

Congrats and welcome on the forum. Manual transmissions fail at the slave cylinder (transmission has to come out) but at 170k I suspect it was already replaced unless the car has mostly highway miles. These transmissions are rare and quite a treat on these cars even with the N/A (I actually prefer t...

Re: 2001 V70 HELP!! Sudden loss of all electrical

It could be as simple as a dead battery. When modern cars battery voltage sags below a certain voltage, everything shuts down, as they are all digital now, so you don't get the analogue 'leeway' anymore. Jumping should have fixed it temporarily but it is common for people to have crappy cables that ...

Re: 2001 V70 HELP!! Sudden loss of all electrical

Pull the codes off the battery and you can date it from the interwebs.

These cars need a good battery and alternator or they will give you hell

Re: Power Steering Leak fixed today - some questions please

I've had the pressure hose off to remove the pump to get to the thermostat. No issues getting it to seal again. If the fitting isnt leaking now It'll probably be fine. Do you have the metal ring keeping the nut in place? I'd put my money on air to begin with. Do a couple of full turns each way at lo...

Re: Power Steering Leak fixed today - some questions please

Yes, there should be a locking washer over the pipe metal nut. It looks like a small bracket attached to the right upper pump bolt, many don't put it back not knowing its role is to precisely prevent the pipe nut from loosening under various vibrations. Re: door glass re-set help?

my bad... that's not the speaker (thank god, since it is riveted in). Oh bad news for me - my front door passenger side speaker sounds blown, was hoping to easily replace it when I finally dig in to investigate why my window on the same door will no longer go down. How is the process to remove the ...

Re: Came here to research used ETM options - now I'm not so sure

The drivability symptoms "might" point to an ETM issue, but those codes point to other things - a faulty coolant temperature sensor reading (P1620) and a faulty MAP sensor reading (P1103). You may have fixed the P1103 when you repaired the vacuum line. It would be interesting to clear the ...

Re: Came here to research used ETM options - now I'm not so sure

When you say ETM are you referring to what some call the throttle body? Just want to make sure. Can you grab a mirror, if you don't already know, and see who makes the ETM on your Volvo. My 2001 V70 XC had a Magneti Marelli which go bad with age. See here for added info: http://www.ecutesting.com/vo...
