Re: '98 Rescue R arrows of (near) death
After checking for corrosion on the TCU connector, check for continuity between the pins, I did and found melted/ shorted wires in the big left to right harness in front of the radiator above the grill. I took the cladding off and found about 7 wires melted together. Separated and cleaned them up, 8...

Re: 2000 V70 NA - Coil misfire on all cylinders?
Definitely check the ground points for the coil packs, the only other thing common to all is the intake vvt solenoid position sensor, if it was one coil pack you’d know what to do, etc.

Re: Polar - something we North Americans don't see
So kewl, maybe the heater was better and it came with a swanky down jacket? I had read on Wikipedia that the 940’s for Italy were different for regulatory reasons.

Re: For Sale 05' Volvo V70, base, 5-speed manual, mistral green tan, 157k

Re: '02 V70 (Timing Belt parts question)
We just did this job last night on my son’s 2007 V70, and we’re sailing down I-84 now. +1 on Yes on the water pump, roller & tensioner with the timing belt. Don’t try to save money on any of these things, like the Continental or stock Volvo belt is best imo. The function and supporting gear for ...

Re: Alternator Question (yes I searched)
I didn’t know that these regulators are externally regulated, so you probably got one on the new alternator, and it’s not that. I think it’s worth a phone call to IPD or FCP with the p/n on your replacement alternator to make sure it meets spec with whatever Bosch unit you are replacing it with. Vol...

Re: Engine code after cleaning Exhaust VVT
I don’t think my ‘96 850 had VVT, and they introduced them on the intake side first in later models. In any case, a VVT solenoid is electric and shouldn’t be wet, but the sprocket it acts on is all metal, is this what you cleaned?

Re: Engine code after cleaning Exhaust VVT
Yeah P0017 is bank 1 (intake/front) camshaft does not swing by it’s hall sensor when the ECU predicts it should. This could be the crankshaft being off +- 1 or 2 teeth or the same for the intake cam. The procedure for the front cam has to be followed precisely. Rather than hose your engine, have a g...

Re: Maintenance Log - An expensive and naive s70 rebuild - life lessons earned and the quest to make it worth it.
I will show this post to my lovely wife, and she will then come to understand that you've gone completely mad, and that my Volvo addiction is mild by comparison. In all seriousness, fantastic work, I wish I could be this meticulous.
