Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Pick a part yard near me finally got an 850 in so I went pickin’ over the weekend! Got a nice set of gray carpet and parts to fix the cruise control (module and vacuum pump). While I had the seats out of my ‘96 850 GLT to replace the carpet I redid the headliner too. Gray carpet actually looks real...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Been a joy to bring her back to life after being neglected for years before I got her. Luckily she was low miles at around 55,000. Now she has 63,000 and climbing. Wow, sounds like you found a gem there with that low mileage. Hopefully the timing belt was replaced for age. [/quote] We live on the e...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

I was the first person in over 20 years to get the trip computer activated at the dealership.
They charged 1/2 hr and ‘tester’ fee - total was probably 10% of cars entire value.
But a fabulous thing to fool with when highway driving... 35.6mpg over 300 mile test drive

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

That's the way to do it.

Sounds pretty much exactly how I'm going through the S70 I bought a while back. It's a lot of work but very rewarding I find.

And you can enjoy your 850 for a looong time.

Re: 1996 Volvo 850 GLT - 2 step central locking (keyless?) entry

The late 96 and all 97 850s don't have the box behind the glovebox, it is under the dash somewhere. They all use the same remote which looks like this: remote.jpg It is programmed to the car as follows: Programming a transmitter If you purchase additional transmitters (max. 4), they must be programm...

AFAIK that remote is for 1998 and later cars only. Check the fitment tab in this IPD listing:

Re: 1996 Volvo 850 GLT - 2 step central locking (keyless?) entry

I'm glad you managed to work it out. I've just managed to get mine working too. I keep unlocking and locking it as I walk past, just because I can. Both my previous 850 (purchased in February 2014) and the current one (June 2018) came without working remotes. There was a non-functioning one with the...
