Re: Placing an active subwoofer in my S70 (spaghetti mess)

You can lift the carpet quite easily, I swear I've seen on guide on here but can't find it :?: All it takes is to unclip a few trims https://i57.servimg.com/u/f57/16/41/73/43/14948210.jpg There's two grounds under the rear seat (bolt at the bottom right of the picture, taken pre-vaccuming  ...

Re: Sudden increase oil usuage 98 S70 n/a, manual

I suppose it could be burning oil without leaving a james bond style smoke plume. Check the cylinders and plugs for oil like you planned. Being a manual NA you dont have to worry about a turbo or the oil cooler.

P80 Inspection, service and repair check list

I have started on a check list that came as an idea when working on my friends 98 wagon. Casting an eye over the car made me realise there are a lot of places to check. I have not got close to finishing it yet or perhaps figuring out the best way to present it and make it the most efficient to use. ...

Re: Tyre size S70

Yes....that's official size from Volvo after many customer's complaints about bent rims because of 50 profile.

Re: Tyre size S70

I have also recently learned that 205/60/16 will fit, but there is an increased risk of rubbing if your suspension is really worn out. 215/50/16 will also fit. Allegedly so will 215/55/16 with stock or higher ride height.

Re: Parts brands - OE Volvo, trusted aftermarket, and bad

As the later (94?-) control arms have no replaceable ball joints, and that is what mostly fails, you have little option other than buying OE. Lemforder used to make a decent unit, but I think TRW bought them over. Do you do the work yourself or pay someone to do it for you? 50kkm does seem low for c...

Re: Parts brands - OE Volvo, trusted aftermarket, and bad

So, today I received some disappointing news: the ball joints on my eleven month old wish bones have a lot of play. I've driven them for 35000 kilometers and they're from the Febi Bilstein brand. Had somewhat of the same issue with the TRW brand, but the TRW's lasted longer, somewhat of 50.000 kilo...

Re: Parts brands - OE Volvo, trusted aftermarket, and bad

Because if you tighten the bolts with the wheels drooping, then set it down, the arms rotate, twisting the rubber bushings. So the rubber is already in tension and under load when sitting level, and they will wear out faster.

Re: Parts brands - OE Volvo, trusted aftermarket, and bad

I've got a question about ignition parts, specifically the rotor and cap. Here, in the Netherlands, they mainly sell two brands: Bosch and Beru. The price difference between these two brands is a bit... much in my opinion. There are suppliers that ask 108 euros for just the rotor, where as Beru pri...
