white smoke with gas smell when the engine is cold

Post by volvomeister »

I have a problem with my 1995 volvo 850 turbo. When the engine is first started in the morning it does good but after a minute or to of idleing ot starts to emit white smoke from the exhaust/ I know white humidity, blue oil, and black gas. It is not leaking any coolant and only burns half a quort of oil every 4 thousand miles. Once the engine reaches normal temp the smoke is gone and so is the smell. I have a little bit of experience with engine repair but this one leaves me scratching my head if any of you good volvo lovers out there have and suggestions it would be greatly appreciated by this volvo fan. Thankyou

If you look at most cars on a cold start up spit drops of moisture on start up and as the engine warms up this is converted to fog/steam. The gas smell is removed or lessened in the cars that have an airpump which returns unburned gas' into the engine for the first two minutes of running ,only on a cold engine.
