92 740T starts, but won't run. Can't throttle up, sputters and dies; either fuel delivery or vacuum leak? Relay problem? HELP! I'm stuck at the inlaws' place!

This could be related to several sources, fuel, vacuum leak, timing belt could have jumped a tooth or two. Unfortunately none of these problems are quickly diagnosed. Some things to check;

1) Is there gas in the tank (sorry but have to always ask this question first)
2) When cranking the car can you hear the fuel pump operating (or feel it by placing your hand on the pump)
3) To check for a skipped belt you have to remove the upper timing belt cover and align the crank timing make and a corresponding mark on the cam sprocket.

Those checks will give you a good start in isolating the problem
