Volvo 940 gets 10 miles per gallon

I have 1991 Volvo 940 GLE with the B234 engine. Recently, the check engine light came and with it came ridiculous fuel burn, black smoke emitted from the tailpipe and the car struggles to restart after the engine warms up. I believe it could be the oxygen sensor but I'm not sure. What do you guys think it is? Thank you!

These were all symptoms of past bad o2 sensors in different brands of cars.

I would bet on it ! Try disconnecting it and see if symptoms go away. DOnt drive without it, but if the symptoms go away, you have your answer !

Cheers

ch your fuel pressure regulator it will cause your engine to flood out and black smoke to poor out the exhaust.its alot cheaper than the o2 sensor
