850 Spits and sputters
My 97 850 wagon just started spitting and sputtering when driving. It literally was fine then I noticed a slight sputter and 5 miles down the road I was lucky to make it home. Sputters when the gas is applied but cruising sees only a slight sputter. It never stalled and the a/c never missed a beat. I had gotten gas about 10 miles prior to this. What would cause it to come out so suddenly? Is there such a thing as "bad" gas? Please Help!

Yes, it is possible to get bad gas. Do you have any check engine lights on?

Go to your local auto parts store and ask them to read the codes for you. Most of them do it for free. The codes will pinpoint what the problem is.Sussex wrote:Yes the check engine light did come on. It started blinking very fast then went solid as the cars performance degraded.
