Oil Pressure Warning Light

Post by Bobbie »

Has anyone seen a case where this light goes on intermittently, but there is no apparent oil pressure problem? Any experience with oil pump failure in an 850?

The most likely cause of this is a faulty oil pressure sending unit, this is a common problem on many cars, but...

WARNING, any time your oil pressure light comes on you should check the engine oil pressure with a guage to ensure there are no engine or oil pump problems. Even starving an engine of oil for a second can cause major engine damage.

The oil pickup pipe seal in the oil pan can be the cause of this intermittent oil pressure light coming on. This will not show on your oil pressure gauge.
