My s40 starts fine in the mornings, but if i leave work for lunch after 3 or four hours it is always a hard start. Any Ideas?

My 2001 V40 is doing the same but not always. 1 quick start out of 4, 50% 3 seconds start and the rest of the time it hesitates a bit. The owner's manual mention a maximum starting delay of 5 sec.

I don't think it is an issue worth spending too much time and money. I mean the motor won't damaged. The starter could suffer though. The clues I have right now is the look at the fuel pressure regulator for vacuum or gas leak, and a temperature sensor that participates in the optimal gas-air mix.

I feel I am getting closer to the solution. Viva WWW
